Inspiration

The name Pi It comes from my last name Pineda and my date of birth March 14 or 3.14 which coincides with the number Pi. This is a constant in mathematics found in most measurable objects around us. In fact, it's used in jewelry to calculate the diameters and perimeters of pieces.

The inspiration for the pieces I create comes from the nature, of the perfect forms that we can find in it. And also from a cultural vision , with an influence of anthropology, in the symbols that the Human Being gives to the aspects of his life.

From there arises the concept of ornament for the naming of my pieces. Since ornaments are objects that have been crafted by human beings, rather than for utilitarian purposes, they have been used to beautify, adorn, exalt, or even give a mystical touch to existence.

By definition the ornament is an element used for decoration that beautifies the exterior and an internal virtue that makes a person worthy of recognition. Historically, they have been used to denote a status of power; their specialization has led human beings to create true works of art, capturing the external beauty of their surroundings and the internal virtues of people. A truly creative and inspiring act.

The ornaments are symbolic, are loaded with meaning. We generally attribute a quality to a thing based on its characteristics. We are surrounded by symbols that give meaning to our existence. Thus, throughout history, we have created the ornaments that accompany us in our daily lives. Everything we do has meaning or significance. We express our feelings and our way of thinking with the ornaments we wear; they represent us.

Meet Adelaida Pineda

creator

My start in the world of jewelry comes from my taste for crystalsI studied them to learn their energetic properties, textures, and colors. So I started making accessories to wear, such as bracelets, pendants, and necklaces, and to use as amulets.

As I wanted to improve the finishes of the accessories in 2018, I started a jewelry course in Bogotá for two years where I found a true passion, so I decided to train in depth in Barcelona to explore other techniques. This is how I've been building my path as a jeweler.

I'm also an anthropologist and have worked for over 10 years in the field of well-being and personal development, so I wanted to focus this art on symbols and what wearing jewelry represents. From there comes the use of the concept of ornament, to merge my knowledge and give it a meaning that encompasses the cultural, artistic and symbolic.
